Mamelodi Sundowns set for epic Betway Premiership battle against Orlando Pirates

Mamelodi Sundowns set for epic Betway Premiership battle against Orlando Pirates

The two South African giants will be facing each other for the third fixture this season after their two-legged MTN8 semi-final fixtures which the Buccaneers won on penalties.

The two teams have not played to a goalless draw in previous league encounters since the 2019/20 season.

"With Pirates, the last few seasons, this is the team that has been pushing us, "said Aubrey Modiba to reporters.

"I think that gives us extra motivation playing against them. Obviously, there is the banter in the national team because we have more or less the same number of players, so we always talk about this game. We don't want to lose to them going into the national team because the banter will be something else."

Meanwhile, AmaBhakaniya head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou wants his side to be more efficient in their finishing.

"I think we don't have to be worried," said the Moroccan mentor.

"It's just as a coach I want to attract the attention of my players that football is scoring goals and when you have the possibility to score goals - score goals because like I said before at the end of the league, every goal is important."

A victory for the hosts will see coach Miguel Cardoso's side move six points clear of Pirates who have two games in hand, but a win for the visitors would see Bucs tied with Sundowns on 21 points.
