Man United's Bruno Fernandes grateful after matching Ronaldo's monthly EPL award record

The Red Devils skipper won the monthly award following some great displays where he scored two goals while providing four assists for his teammates in four matches.

As a result, United currently occupy third spot on the Premier League table following a remarkable turnaround under coach Michael Carrick, which has seen Fernandes flourish under the Englishman.

"Obviously I am always grateful even more [because] we know that all the fans vote for it," said the Portugal talisman to the club website.

"So, I really appreciate that they have voted for me in this month and in all of the other five that I've got before also. It was a good month, not only for me, but also for the team. So, I am very happy with it."

Fernandes equalled his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo's tally of six EA SPORTS Player of the Month awards and is now one away from the record of seven, shared by Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Mohamed Salah.

"Yeah, it's always good company to be in," added the club captain.

"We know when records are there, his name [Ronaldo] is going to be always around, so it's quite common for anyone and everyone in the world of football. But it is obviously a huge honour and privilege for me to be close to him in this category."

The 31-year-old will be hoping to continue his good form when United face rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford next Monday.
