Mathys Tel completes permanent move to Tottenham from Bayern Munich

The 20-year-old joins the north London club in a deal worth 34 million pounds, including performance-related bonuses, sources told ESPN. Tel has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at Spurs until 2031.

Tel impressed during his short stint at the club, contributing two goals and an assist in 13 appearances as Spurs lifted the Europa League title - their first major trophy in 17 years - with a dramatic final win over Manchester United in Bilbao.

Despite the departure of Ange Postecoglou just over two weeks after that European triumph, Tottenham have moved quickly to secure Tel's future. The French Under-21 international becomes the first signing under new head coach Thomas Frank, who was appointed after leaving Brentford earlier this summer.

Tel, who originally joined Bayern from Rennes in 2022, showed flashes of his potential in the Bundesliga but struggled for regular starts. His loan spell in England offered more consistent minutes and a chance to make an impression, which Spurs have now rewarded with a permanent deal.

The move marks a significant step in the young striker's career and signals Tottenham's intent to invest in youth under Frank's leadership heading into the 2025–26 season.
