Kasper Hjulmand demands squad rotation as Leverkusen face fixture crunch
Coach Kasper Hjulmand has made it clear that changes are coming at Bayer Leverkusen as the club prepare for a demanding run of fixtures in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

The former Germany international was speaking as a pundit on Prime Video following Borussia Dortmund's 2-0 win over Atalanta BC in Europe on Tuesday. Asked about Bayern's recent performances under Vincent Kompany, Hummels made it clear he believes standards have dipped.
"I see Bayern as less confident at the moment," Hummels said. "Until a few weeks ago, they would have been one of my top three favourites for the Champions League title. I've seen many games in recent weeks where they have clearly dropped off."
It was a pointed assessment from a player who knows both clubs inside out, having represented Bayern and Dortmund during his career.
Bayern's brief wobble included a 2-1 defeat to FC Augsburg and a 2-2 draw with Hamburger SV earlier in the campaign. However, they have since responded with three consecutive victories in all competitions, restoring momentum at a crucial stage of the season.
Attention now turns to Matchday 23 of the 2025–26 Bundesliga season this Saturday. Bayern host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena. Later that evening, Dortmund travel to face RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena.
With just six points separating the two sides, both fixtures carry major significance in the title race.
Following those matches, Bayern and Dortmund will meet in a pivotal Klassiker on Saturday, 28 February at Signal Iduna Park. For Kompany's side, it will be an opportunity to silence doubts. For Dortmund, it could be the moment to close the gap and shift the balance of the championship fight.
