Cardoso was brought in this season to take over from Manqoba Mngqithi and has managed to continue the good work of former bosses.
His Sundowns side are currently on top of the Betway Premiership with 39 points from 14 games, six clear of Orlando Pirates in second place and on a run of six successive league victories.
They are also in the knockout-rounds of the CAF Champions League and the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.
Cardoso's team have displayed some impressive free-flowing football and last overcame SuperSport United 3-0 at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.
Jayden Adams opened the scoring after just 11 minutes, and Tashreeq Matthews sealed the result with a quick-fire brace with a goal a minute before half-time and four minutes after the break.
Speaking after the game, the Downs boss said in the Sowetan: "Good going for us, there is no me on this table.
"I'm part of the big engine and I am just one piece, so there is no me in this equation. I'm very happy that the team is performing well and they continue to win.
"It is my job just to be part of the facilitation to achieve the results. We have a long way to go until the end and there will be a moment to make a balance. So let's focus on day-by-day work.
"It is my job to try and make the best decision possible. That's why we need to work so hard to arrive at the moment and be able to make good decisions. It is not important to think about what we did, we have to think about what we have to do."
Cardoso added that there is still a long way to go in the season to take anything for granted.
He explained: “We have steps to go go o forward. Today there were lots of young players and players that have just arrived at the club. The team has to grow, but that does not mean we are not in a good place.”
