The 23-year-old struck in England's 5-0 win over Serbia in Belgrade and has already made three appearances for Arsenal since arriving from Chelsea in July. His debut came in the win at Manchester United, before starting again in the 5-0 victory over Leeds. With Bukayo Saka sidelined, Madueke switched to the right flank at Anfield, where he caused Liverpool problems throughout the contest despite losing 1-0.
Arteta has been impressed with the way supporters have embraced Madueke since his arrival. "The welcoming that our supporters gave to Noni from day one was incredible," Arteta said ahead of Arsenal's clash with Nottingham Forest. "Our supporters have been exceptional, and rightly so, because he is an unbelievable player."
The Spaniard also underlined the competition for places that Madueke has brought into the squad. "When that day comes that Bukayo is in his best condition and Noni the same, that's what we want, and I'm very happy to have him," he said. "Looking at what he has done with the national team as well, I've spoken with Thomas (Tuchel) about him and I am very pleased. He is in a really good moment."
Arsenal's players returned from international duty with confidence. Captain Martin Odegaard scored for Norway, while Mikel Merino hit four goals for Spain, including a hat-trick against Turkey. Arteta was relieved to see his squad return without injuries, stressing the importance of depth going into a demanding campaign.
"Last year we were much shorter, especially in certain positions," Arteta said. "Now we have better depth, better quality, and better options, with players who can operate in two or three different positions. That is going to give us very different solutions."
Arsenal, who have lost once in their opening three league matches of the season, face Forest next as they look to maintain momentum in the Premier League title race.
