Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush headline strong Egypt squad for AFCON

The seven-time champions will compete in the continental tournament that starts on 21 December with head coach Hossam Hassan finalizing his 28-man group that includes four goalkeepers.

The experienced Mohamed El Shenawy of Al Ahl remains the first-choice shot-stopper, supported by club teammate Mostafa Shobeir alongside Ahmed El Shenawy and Mohamed Sobhi.

Marwan Attia, Hamdi Fathi, Mohannad Lasheen, Emam Ashour and Mohamed Shehata are joined by influential playmakers Ahmed Sayed Zizo and Mahmoud Trezeguet in the midfield.

In attack, Hassan will be looking to Liverpool's Salah and Manchester City's Marmoush  to provide the bulk of the goals.

Egypt will kick off their AFCON campaign against Zimbabwe on 22 December before taking on fellow Group B contenders South Africa and Angola.
