Mohau Nkota attracting global interest as valuation rises

The Al-Ettifaq winger's agent, Karabo Mathang-Tshabuse of P Management, confirmed that enquiries have been received from multiple markets, while also reassuring that the Bafana Bafana international remains safe despite tensions in the Middle East.

Nkota, who previously played for Orlando Pirates, joined the Saudi club at the start of the season in a deal believed to be worth around £1.5 million (approximately R36 million). The agreement includes performance-related add-ons that could raise the total value to about £2.1 million (around R50 million).

Recent reports suggest that Al-Ettifaq now value the 23-year-old at roughly €3 million (about R60 million), reflecting his growing reputation since making the move to the Gulf.

However, Nkota has seen limited game time in recent weeks. Across Al-Ettifaq's last eight matches, he has only featured briefly and missed four fixtures entirely, which has sparked speculation about his role under head coach Saad Al-Shehri.

Should the club entertain offers, the current valuation could make a move within the Saudi Pro League difficult, as few clubs may be willing to meet the asking price.

A potential return to South Africa also appears unlikely at this stage. Any move back to the Betway Premiership would require significant financial resources, while the domestic transfer window has already closed.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Mathang-Tshabuse insists Nkota remains focused on his development and professional responsibilities.

"He is a valuable player, so there will always be interest from across the globe regarding him," she said, as quoted by Sowetan.

She added that player progression is always part of long-term planning.

"The nature of football is progression. Whether it's after one or two seasons, it's something we plan with our clients, but for now we are monitoring the situation."

Mathang-Tshabuse also confirmed Nkota is safe and continuing his work as normal with Al-Ettifaq.
