Mohau Nkota's agent reveals what made the move to Saudi League worth the risk

The player was expected to head to Europe following a standout debut season with Orlando Pirates.

Nkota signed with Al Ettifaq and has quickly become one of the team's key players, joining them at a pre-season training camp straight from Spain, where he had been with Orlando Pirates in July.

While many anticipated a European transfer, Mathang-Tshabuse says the decision to go to Saudi Arabia was a calculated risk.

"If you look at the number of eyeballs on the Saudi League, it's one of the fastest-growing leagues. They've just signed with ESPN, and these are the kinds of opportunities that can elevate a player's career," she told Smash Sports, as quoted by Goal.com.

"I was hesitant. I told Mohau to be aware of the risks, including the possibility that things might not go as planned under a coach like Hugo Broos. But he considered it carefully and decided he wanted to take this chance. He is young, resolute, and ready to make his mark."

The agent emphasised that Nkota is joining a top team in Saudi Arabia, not a smaller club, making the move strategically sound.

"Ettifaq is competitive, and he will be playing alongside world-class talents like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Karim Benzema, and Georginio Wijnaldum," she said.
