Kaizer Chiefs' strong start is no fluke, says Lehlohonolo Majoro
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lehlohonolo Majoro believes Amakhosi's blistering start to the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign is a product of hard work and momentum - not luck.
As many as 10 new players arrived at Amakhosi this term, following the departure of nine players at the end of the previous campaign.
Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Flavio Silva, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Asanele Velebayi, Etiosa Ighodaro, Luke Baartman and Lebohang Maboe all joined the Soweto club, while Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edmilson Dove, Njabulo Blom, Sabelo Radebe, Ranga Chivaviro, Tebogo Potsane and Bongani Sam were released.
Performances have certainly improved, with Chiefs starting the new campaign with four wins and one draw from their opening five games, to sit in second place on the Betway Premiership standings with 13 points, level with league leaders Sekhukhune United.
As they prepare to face Sekhukhune, after the international break, on September 16, Nabi has thanked the board, while also admitting he expects his team to only get better.
The Chiefs coach said on iDiski Times: "I think I have to say congratulations to the board, I think they did a very big job for us.
"Some players have started to play already, and some of them will get a chance to play also.
"Now, I think the performance of some players who played give us more solutions. But building a team is always tough. With the new players, we need some time to build our team and to be better.
"But for now we have to say congratulations to the board for these players. I think they help us.
"And I think the only thing that we need now is time and passion because you know when you [blend] some new players with [current] players, to make a relation between them, you need time, and like I said, just with passion it will be better."
