Colombia made a strong start to their tournament with a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan, and another win would secure their place in the round of 32.
However, Lorenzo insisted his players must remain cautious against a DR Congo side that showed their quality by holding Portugal to a 1-1 draw in their opening match.
The Colombia boss highlighted Congo's defensive shape and attacking speed as the biggest threats his team must handle.
"They play with a 5-3-2 system and have two forwards ready to attack the space," Lorenzo said. "Their transitions and counter-attacks are something we have to control."
Despite the challenge ahead, Lorenzo stressed that Colombia would not change their identity and would continue to play their own style of football.
Luis Diaz was one of the standout performers in Colombia's opening victory, scoring and providing an assist, and Lorenzo praised the Bayern Munich forward's all-round ability.
"The important thing is not how many times he attacks, but how the moves finish," Lorenzo said. "Lucho is a complete forward."
Lorenzo confirmed he had no major selection concerns but refused to reveal his starting lineup before the match.
The Colombia manager also urged his players to use the support of the fans as motivation while keeping their emotions under control.
"We have to play with a hot heart and a cool head," he said.
With qualification within reach, Lorenzo believes discipline and concentration will be key as Colombia look to continue their positive start to the World Cup.
