Newcastle's Anthony Gordon 'gutted' over Tino Livramento's England omission

The right-back, who was stretchered off against Arsenal earlier this season, faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Although the injury was not as severe as initially feared, it was serious enough to rule him out of contention for the upcoming matches.

England will play a friendly against Wales on Thursday before facing Latvia in a crucial World Cup qualifier - a victory that could seal qualification for the 2026 tournament.

"I think that's the difficulty for England sometimes that you're not playing with the lads all the time," said Gordon.

"So the chemistry is not as good as you'd like it to be at club level. But I've been here for a long time now, so I've got a good chemistry with everyone on the pitch.

"Gutted for Tino that he can't be here.

"Obviously, he's been immense for Newcastle for a long time and played a lot of games.

"So hopefully he can just rest, get better and recover and come back better."

Back at club level, Eddie Howe's Newcastle are enduring a turbulent start to the 2025 campaign. The Magpies' Champions League commitments have stretched their squad depth, with injuries and transfer frustrations mounting.

New signing Jacob Ramsey has barely featured, Yoane Wissa has yet to make his debut, and Lewis Hall continues to struggle for full fitness.
