The Nigerian forward's clinical finish in extra time rescued the Turkish champions in a tense clash against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
Juventus had been reduced to ten men for a large portion of the match following the controversial dismissal of Lloyd Kelly. Despite being a man down, the Italians fought back through goals from Manuel Locatelli, Federico Gatti, and Weston McKennie, forcing the game into an additional 30 minutes.
Just before the end of the first half of extra time, Osimhen broke free from Gatti, kept his composure, and slotted the ball through goalkeeper Mattia Perin's legs.
The strike swung the momentum in Galatasaray's favour across the two legs. The drama continued in the 119th minute when Barış Alper Yılmaz struck to seal the team's progression to the last 16.
Accoding to Al-Jazeera, former Chelsea FC captain Andy Townsend praised Osimhen's movement and composure, describing the goal as a "proper centre-forward finish" that saved his team from a precarious situation.
Osimhen's efforts earned him UEFA's Player of the Match award, with the Technical Observer Group highlighting his focus and determination.
With 16 goals in just 25 Champions League appearances, he now ranks among Africa's top scorers in the competition, trailing only Serhou Guirassy and surpassing Didier Drogba - a testament to his growing reputation as one of the continent's most lethal forwards.
