Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira believes their season is salvageable

Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira believes their season is salvageable

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss has taken charge at the City Ground on an 18-month contract, replacing Sean Dyche. Earlier in the campaign, Forest had already parted company with Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, underlining a turbulent season on the managerial front.

Forest currently sit just three points above the bottom three in the Premier League table, with 12 matches remaining. The club are entrenched in a fierce relegation battle, knowing that any slip could see them dragged into the drop zone.

Pereira arrives with recent experience of survival under pressure. He guided Wolves to safety last season at Molineux Stadium, earning plaudits for steadying the side during a difficult spell.

Now, he faces a similar task at Forest. Pereira has expressed confidence in the squad's quality and believes that with organisation and belief, the club can secure their top-flight status for another year.

"I prefer to speak about the present and the future. But you know this is a difficult season for the players, because it's different methodologies, different managers," said Pereira.

"It's not easy, but I believe the reason why I accept this job is because I believe in the quality of the players, because I believe in the potential of this club, the ambition of the president.

"Of course, I believe that it's possible (to stay up). I believe that we can get points, results and quality in the games."
