"We have to analyse and come back stronger," says Abdeslam Ouaddou after second Orlando Pirates loss
Abdeslam Ouaddou says Orlando Pirates will "come back stronger" after losing 2-1 to Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.
The Mswenko Boys, in their debut Premiership campaign, not only secured their first three points but also celebrated their first-ever top-flight goal.
The decisive moment arrived in the 73rd minute when Letsie Koapeng, teed up by Siyabulela Mabele, saw his shot deflect off Buhle Mkhwanazi and into the bottom left corner past Ricardo Goss.
The match began cautiously, with Orbit threatening as early as the 11th minute through Mabele's blocked cross.
Siwelele's best first-half opening came in the 29th minute when Orbit goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane's misplaced pass found Christian Saile, who failed to hit the target.
Late in the half, Buhle Mkhwanazi's recovery tackle denied Monnapule Saleng a clear shot after a slick move from Given Thibedi.
In the second half, both sides created chances before the breakthrough. Saleng's run past Siyabonga Ndebele in the 49th minute ended with a tame shot, while Siwelele went close through Lyle Lakay's dangerous free-kicks and Magidigidi's saved header. Vincent Pule's long-range effort in the 71st minute skimmed just over the bar.
After going ahead, Orbit were forced to withstand pressure. Pule almost levelled with a low strike from the edge of the box, but Moerane was equal to it. In the 88th minute, Neo Rapoo, on his birthday, saw his free-kick brush the top of the goal.
Siwelele's defeat saw them drop from the summit of the league standings, while Orbit's milestone win provided a major boost to their maiden Premiership campaign.
