Orbit College leapfrog Magesi to move out of danger as Siwelele close in on top eight

Orbit College emerged victorious from their relegation six-pointer with Magesi at the Seshego Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The South African top-flight tie featuring the two struggling clubs was halted due to lightning and heavy showers shortly after kick-off.

Play resumed with Lucky Malatsi putting Orbit College ahead after 21 minutes.

Gomolemo Khoto added a second with 37 on clock, ahead of a Motsie Matima strike on 41 minutes to reduce the decifit.

The Mswenko Boys held on for all three points, to move off the foot of the table into 14th place with 23 points from 27 games.

Magesi dropped one place into 15th with 21 points, level on points with Marumo Gallants, in 16th, who have a game in hand.

Elsewhere, Nedbank Cup hero Jean Lwamba rescued a point for champions Durban City in a 2-2 draw with Siwelele at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium.

Lwamba, who scored the winning goal in Saturday's cup final, put City ahead after just six minutes but Siwelele were level just six minutes later through Bohlale Ngwato.

Gamphani Lungu gave the home side the lead for the first time after 57 minutes but Lwamba had the final say with his 75th minute equaliser.

Siwelele remained in ninth place after the draw, with 33 points, two points behind Golden Arrows in eighth, although from two games more, while City ended the evening in sixth place with 37 points from 27 games.

The Betway Premiership clash between Chippa United and Sekhukhune United at the Buffalo City Stadium on Tuesday night was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.

The clash will be replayed at 13:00 on Wednesday afternoon at the same venue.
