Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou: We take confidence into Soweto derby

The Buccaneers are in a fierce title race with Mamelodi Sundowns for Betway Premiership honours, currently in first place on the league standings with 58 points from 25 games.

Sundowns are hot on their heels in second spot, just two points adrift and with two games in hand, against Stellenbosch and Richards Bay.

A recent draw with the Natal Rich Boyz left Pirates needing the Brazilians to drop points if they are to come out on top this season, but they head into the Soweto derby in good spirits after a 3-0 hammering of an in-form AmaZulu last time out.

Chiefs are, meanwhile, chasing a top three finish to their season, and currently occupy third place with five games of their season to play.

Speaking ahead of the weekend's game, Ouaddou explained that his team will keep pushing until the end of the season.

“This was a very good moment for the guys and it's even better before the derby. It (AmaZulu win) gives a lot of confidence to the boys," he said on IOL.

"We play every game to win and we haven't altered that when playing home or away, when you coach Pirates, you play attacking football.

"Sometimes teams have been able to challenge us and that's a part of football but we can't take out the good things our team has done and we'll definitely keep pushing.

"We have a group of players that we trust and everyone is involved in the project."

Pirates recorded a 3-0 victory over Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium in the first round of league fixtures this season.
