Orlando Pirates set to battle without injured trio for Polokwane City clash

AmaBhakaniya have confirmed that Relebohile Mofokeng is likely to miss out on the fixture against Polokwane City alongside Deano van Rooyen and Tapelo Xoki due to injuries.

The Soweto giants will be looking to bounce back at home following a shocking 3-0 defeat in their CAF Champions League first leg qualifier against Saint-Eloi Lupopo in the DR Congo last Saturday.

The loss ended an 11-match unbeaten streak under Moroccan head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, leaving the team with a mountain to climb for the second leg of the continental competition.

However, Bucs will have a chance to extend their winning streak in the league this season to seven games against an unpredictable Polokwane City.

Bafana Bafana youngster Mofokeng was injured during the Last 16 victory against Siwelele FC in the Carling Knockout Cup earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Van Rooyen has not featured for Pirates since coming off injured in the 20th minute against his former club Stellenbosch in a league clash in August.

Defender Tapelo Xoki is still recovering from a freak injury sustained during a vehicle related accident with other staff members including coach Ouaddou last month.

The Buccaneers currently occupy third spot on the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season after playing seven fixtures whilst Polokwane City are in sixth spot after nine matches.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
