Orlando Pirates snatch dramatic stoppage-time point at Richards Bay

Richards Bay made a perfect start and took the lead in the 10th minute. Thulani Gumede struck brilliantly from range, firing into the top corner after a well-worked set-piece, leaving Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine with no chance.

Pirates responded with urgency and created several opportunities through Oswin Appollis and Yamela Mbuthuma, but Richards Bay goalkeeper Ian Otieno stood firm with a series of key saves. Despite sustained pressure and multiple corners, the visitors went into the break trailing 1-0.

The second half began with renewed intent from Pirates, and they were rewarded in the 52nd minute. Oswin Appollis finished from close range after a precise cross from Relebohile Mofokeng to level the match at 1-1.

Richards Bay, however, hit back just seven minutes later. Lindokuhle Zikhali restored the lead in the 59th minute with a powerful strike from outside the box, catching the Pirates defence off guard to make it 2-1.

Pirates pushed forward relentlessly in search of another equaliser. Evidence Makgopa came close on several occasions, while Deon Hotto tested Otieno from distance. The hosts defended resolutely, with Otieno again playing a key role between the posts.

As the match entered six minutes of added time, Pirates threw everything forward. Their persistence paid off in the 92nd minute when Lebone Seema produced a stunning strike from outside the area, finding the bottom corner to level the score at 2-2.

The final whistle confirmed a dramatic draw. The result left Richards Bay in mid-table, while Pirates remained in second place, just one point behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, keeping the title race finely balanced.
