Pep Guardiola brushes off exit talk as Man City focus sharpens on West Ham

Guardiola addressed the issue during his press conference on Friday, ahead of Saturday's meeting with West Ham, after reports suggested City could already be considering long-term successors. 

Those reports have included links to Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, but City sources have continued to point to Guardiola's current contract, which runs until the summer of 2027.

The City manager appeared calm and relaxed as he spoke to reporters, reflecting the strong position his side have found themselves in after a run of six consecutive wins across all competitions. City have looked settled and confident in recent weeks, underlining the depth and balance of Guardiola's evolving squad.

When asked directly about his future, Guardiola made it clear he remains happy at the club and has enjoyed watching his team develop. He has said discussions about his long-term position have not been a priority and are not currently taking place.

"I am here," Guardiola said. "What is going to happen, who knows? Even if I have a 10-year contract or six months, football changes a lot."

He has spoken positively about the young players in his squad and the satisfaction he continues to take from their progress, suggesting there is still plenty of motivation driving him forward. While he did not completely rule out the possibility of change at some point, there was no sense that an exit is imminent.

"Now I am focusing on West Ham," Guardiola said. "That is all."

City will inevitably plan for the future, as all clubs do, but Guardiola's attention has remained firmly on the present.
