Phuti Mohafe touted for Marumo Gallants switch from Polokwane City

Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe is reportedly the lead candidate to take over the reins at Limpopo rivals Marumo Gallants ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Bahlabane ba Ntwa are looking to replace Moroccan coach Jamil Benouahi who parted ways with the club at the end of the 2025/26 campaign and are said to have Mohafe at the top of their candidates list.

The team managed to avoid relegation play-offs on the final matchday of last season after an awful run since the start of the new year. 

According to FARPost, Gallants are waiting to see if Rise and Shine intend to keep their coach for the upcoming season, as he is currently out of contract.

Mohafe has been impressive in since taking over the helm at City near the end of the 2023/24 season, guiding the side to consecutive top eight finishes in the Betway Premiership.

He has led Polokwane in 81 matches in the top-flight, winning 23 games, drawing 29 and losing 29 times.
