Pitso Dladla praise as Ronaldo Van Neel earns Bafana Bafana call-up

Pitso Dladla praise as Ronaldo Van Neel earns Bafana Bafana call-up

Mosimane was handed the South Africa reins after taking over from retired former mentor Hugo Broos.

His first job is to lead Bafana to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and that starts with qualifiers against Guinea on September 26 and Eritrea on the 30th of September.

Van Neel has impressed for Arrows since his signing from Hungry Lions this season, although he is yet to score in his first six appearances for the club, across all competitions.

He ended last term as Motsepe Foundation top scorer with 13 goals, netting a total of 22 goals in 86 appearances for Hungry Lions.

Speaking about the attacker's call-up, Dladla said on iDiski Times that there is still more to come from the attacking player.

"That's what is good about having a local national team coach because coach Pitso and his technical team didn't just start to know Ronaldo Van Neel here at Arrows," he explained.

"I'm sure if you can talk to them, they will tell you that know him and they have been following him. For us as a team, we know what Ronaldo is capable of, he's still settling, he hasn't adapted fully.

"I promise you once he acclimatise, you'll see more of him. But it's pleasing to seem him in that squad. We have many talented players, we have Gasa, Philani Khumalo, Sithole and etc.

"But as I said that as long as they play well and have ambitions. The likes of Aya Maxwele, [Nhlanhla] Zwane, [Khulekani] Shezi is one of the best right-backs in the country. They must be ambitious.

“With [Ayanda] Jiyane, it's so unfortunate that he got injured together with [Ntandoyenkosi] Mabaso. But I just believe that if Jiyane was injury-free, he could have gotten a national team call-up. Last season, he was one of the best centre-back.”
