Report: Luis Diaz stays put as Liverpool slam door on Barcelona move
Liverpool have reportedly firmly rejected Barcelona's advances for their dynamic winger Luis Diaz, ensuring the Colombian star remains at Anfield for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
The Brazilian winger, a cornerstone of Hansi Flick's squad, is riding high after a campaign that saw him feature in 57 matches, scoring 34 goals and providing 25 assists.
"I'm in a great place mentally," Raphinha said during a promotional event in Brazil. "I've just come off the best season of my career.
"I achieved that because I have the ability to perform at that level. I'm very demanding of myself, so there's no way I'd feel down or unsettled by a new player arriving.
"I'm in top shape, both psychologically and physically, and in two weeks, we kick off a new season with huge excitement."
The 28-year-old, a mainstay under Flick, dismissed any concerns about Nico Williams' arrival, which is expected to intensify competition for the left-wing role.
Far from being fazed, Raphinha extended a warm welcome to the Spanish international. "Any player who comes to contribute to the club is welcome," he said. "Anyone who arrives with the mindset to work hard and fight for the team is valued. That's what matters most to me and the rest of the squad."
Raphinha also showered praise on Williams, acknowledging the 22-year-old's talent. "It's no fluke that he's being linked with us at Barcelona and playing for Spain's senior team," he said. "He's a player of exceptional quality and immense ability."
However, Raphinha struck a critical note when discussing the ongoing Club World Cup in the United States, highlighting the toll of a packed schedule. "Giving up holidays by obligation is tough," he said, reflecting the sentiments of many players navigating an increasingly demanding football calendar.
