Real Madrid scouting goalkeepers but in no rush to find Thibaut Courtois successor

The Spanish giants continue to survey the transfer market for goalkeepers across Europe, according to Mundo Deportivo, preferring to track emerging talent instead of committing to a costly signing.

While succession planning has already begun, club officials see no need to accelerate the process as long as Courtois continues to perform at an elite level.

The Belgian remains the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at the Santiago Bernabeu, with new manager Jose Mourinho also expected to keep him as his preferred option.

Mourinho's arrival has done nothing to alter the established goalkeeping hierarchy, and there is little discussion within the club over Courtois' place in the team.

Real Madrid further reinforced their faith in the experienced shot-stopper by extending his contract until 2027. Courtois is also understood to be keen to remain with the club beyond the end of that deal, underlining his long-term commitment.

Despite viewing the Belgian as indispensable in the short term, Madrid believe it is prudent to prepare for the future. Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen has emerged as one of the names under consideration after impressing for both club and the Netherlands.

The club are also assessing options closer to home. Highly regarded academy goalkeeper Fran Gonzalez is considered a promising prospect, although doubts remain over whether he can eventually develop into a successor capable of matching Courtois' standard.

Meanwhile, Andriy Lunin remains part of the squad but is not regarded as the leading candidate to inherit the starting role.
