Report: Tottenham enter race to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace

Spurs' recruitment plans have accelerated following the departure of Yves Bissouma, with up to three midfield additions under consideration this window.

Wharton's performances over the past year have established him as one of the Premier League's most closely tracked young midfield talents.

Internal Tottenham discussions now view him as one of the more attainable high-profile options, particularly given his profile and suitability to their intended style.

Recruitment lead Roberto De Zerbi is a strong advocate for the player, valuing his composure in possession, technical quality and progressive passing ability.

Interest in Wharton continues to build across the league. Liverpool remain long-term admirers and have recently held discussions with his representatives, while Manchester United are still monitoring his development closely.

Despite this, Crystal Palace insist they have not yet received any formal approaches and remain under no pressure to sell.

Tottenham have also explored alternatives, including Tonali and West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes, although both operations are viewed as highly complex.

Newcastle United are determined to retain Tonali and value him at more than 100 million pounds, while Fernandes is also attracting strong interest from Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Further discussions have taken place over a potential move for Joao Palhinha, with Tottenham weighing a permanent deal after his loan spell, though Sporting CP and other clubs are also monitoring his situation as his future remains unresolved.
