Rob Edwards sees promise as Wolves storm back at Brentford but fail to win

Wolves looked out of the contest early on as Brentford struck twice through Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago. Kayode opened the scoring with a powerful header from Keane Lewis-Potter's cross, before Thiago doubled the lead after good work from Dango Ouattara.

Edwards' side were under pressure and could have fallen further behind, with Thiago hitting the woodwork and missing another clear chance. Reflecting on the performance, Edwards said: "The second goal was incredibly frustrating. We made a couple of errors and didn't stop the cross, but apart from that I thought we were playing well."

Wolves found a way back just before half-time when Adam Armstrong scored his first goal for the club with a fine strike from distance. That goal shifted the momentum, and the visitors improved significantly after the break.

Armstrong nearly added another soon after the restart, hitting the post, as Wolves began to dominate. Their pressure paid off in the 77th minute when substitute Tolu Arokodare headed home from Joao Gomes' delivery to make it 2-2.

Both Armstrong and Arokodare came close to a winner, striking the woodwork again as Wolves pushed forward late on. Edwards admitted his side believed they could take all three points: "When you're 2-0 down away here, you'd probably take a point. But with the chances we had, there's a slight disappointment."

The result extended Wolves' unbeaten run to three matches, but they remain in a difficult position, still 12 points from safety with seven games left. However, Edwards praised the spirit shown by his players and the travelling supporters.

"It's a tough situation, but it's better when you're showing fight and getting results," he said. "The fans can see the lads are giving everything, and that's why they stayed to applaud them at the end."

For Brentford, the draw dealt a blow to their push for European football, while Wolves continue to battle to keep their survival hopes alive.
