Rohit Sharma breaks Virat Kohli's record as India crush Australia in Sydney ODI

His innings not only secured a consolation win for India but also saw him surpass Virat Kohli to claim a new world record.

Chasing 237 after Australia were bowled out for 236, Rohit remained unbeaten on 121, guiding India home in just 38.3 overs.

His knock, filled with elegant drives and crisp timing, was his sixth ODI century on Australian soil, the most by any visiting batter, overtaking Kohli and Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, who both had five.

It was also Rohit's 33rd ODI hundred and his ninth against Australia, equalling Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most centuries by an Indian batter against the Aussies. His performance reaffirmed his reputation as one of the finest limited-overs openers in world cricket.

Virat Kohli offered superb support with 74 not out as the pair added 168 runs for the second wicket, silencing the home crowd with a clinical chase.

The partnership came after a disciplined bowling display led by Harshit Rana, who took key wickets to keep Australia to a below-par total.

Although Australia claimed the series 2–1, India's senior stars ensured the tour ended on a high. For many fans at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the sight of Rohit and Kohli crafting vintage innings together may have been one of the last times the legendary duo shared the crease in Australia, and they delivered a fitting farewell performance.
