Ruben Amorim insists being unfazed about Man Utd future after Brentford loss

Ruben Amorim insists being unfazed about Man Utd future after Brentford loss

The Portuguese manager, who took the helm after a disappointing 15th-place finish last season, has seen limited progress materialize. With only 34 points collected from his 33 league matches and no back-to-back wins since his arrival, questions around his suitability are intensifying. However, Amorim maintains a calm and resolute stance.

Speaking after the loss, Amorim dismissed speculation about his future, saying:

"I am always comfortable with the job. I am not concerned. It is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here. I am never concerned about my job – I am not that kind of guy."

The defeat at Brentford came just a week after a morale-boosting win over Chelsea, which had raised hopes of a turning point. Instead, United slipped back into familiar patterns of inconsistency, failing again to secure back-to-back victories. The latest setback left the club languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League.

The match at the Gtech Community Stadium unraveled within the opening 20 minutes. Brentford raced to a 2-0 lead and could have scored more, exploiting gaps in United's setup that Amorim claimed his team had prepared for.

Reflecting on the loss, Amorim admitted his side had failed to impose their style of play:

"Today we played the game of Brentford, not our game. When you play the opponent's game, it's harder to win."

He added that the players were thoroughly briefed on what to expect but faltered under pressure:

"That is the pressure of the club. I'm not trying to protect the players or myself. I'm just trying to win the next game, create again the momentum. That's it."
