The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns coach is currently without a job after parting ways with Wydad AC recently.
He has been linked with the Buccaneers, who are currently on the lookout for a new mentor following the departure of Jose Riveiro.
Amakhosi, meanwhile, are under the guise of Tunisian head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who ended his side's long wait for a trophy with victory in the 2025 Nedbank Cup.
Mokwena told Marawa Sports Worldwide that he wouldn't consider a switch to Chiefs with Nabi in charge of the team.
When asked about the possibility of joining the Glamour Boys, he said: "It can't be about Kaizer Chiefs because they've got a coach.
“Of course it's a great a club, it's of course got the pressure of doing well also in the domestic league but I think that winning the Nedbank Cup and delivering the first title [in 10 years], and the way they did it, not only just winning it but the way they did it, beating other big teams, I think coach Nabi has earned credit."
Mokwena added: "Sometimes as coaches we need that, we need credit sometimes. And I think he's earned the credit to be given an opportunity to continue to resurrect Kaizer Chiefs."
