Rwanda vow to bounce back stronger ahead of South Africa clash

A late strike from Tosin Aiyegun condemned the Amavubi to defeat and dented their World Cup qualification hopes despite a spirited display.

The loss left the East Africans frustrated, but both the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) and the national team have promised fans that the side will come back stronger.

In a statement posted on social media after the match, the Amavubi camp expressed appreciation to their supporters and renewed their determination to finish the group campaign on a high note.

"To our supporters - you gave your all, and we felt every ounce of your passion. We'll rise again, stronger, sharper, and hungrier. Next time, we'll make it count - for you and for the nation," the message read.

The result against Benin added further intrigue to Group C, where the qualification race remains open.

Nigeria claimed a vital 2-1 away win over Lesotho, while South Africa were held to a goalless draw by Zimbabwe, keeping the standings tight heading into the final round of fixtures.

Rwanda now shift their focus to the clash with Bafana Bafana, who are also chasing qualification. The encounter is expected to be fiercely contested, as both sides aim to end their qualifying campaign on a positive note.

While Rwanda are out of the race for the World Cup qualification, their resolve to fight until the end has reignited hope among their passionate supporters - and a determined response is expected when they take on Bafana Bafana next week Tuesday.
