The 25-year-old right-back completed a surprise switch to Amakhosi following the expiry of his contract with Pirates at the end of June 2024. His departure brought an end to a five-year stint with the Soweto giants.
"It's a breath of fresh air," said Monyane, reflecting on his transition to Naturena as quoted by the club's website.
Having come through the ranks of the Pirates' DStv Diski Challenge team, Monyane was promoted to the senior squad in 2019. He featured in 95 matches for the Buccaneers across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
During his time in black and white, he was part of a highly successful period for the club, lifting several domestic trophies-most notably three consecutive MTN8 titles under former coach Jose Riveiro.
Unfortunately, his final campaign at Pirates was disrupted by a lengthy injury layoff, which limited his contributions on the pitch. In his absence, Riveiro preferred Deano Van Rooyen and Bandile Shandu in the right-back role. Riveiro has since taken over at Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly.
Monyane now looks forward to revitalising his career in gold and black, with Kaizer Chiefs hoping his experience and energy can help them reclaim their place among the elite.
