With the scores tied at half-time, Juan Alvina broke the deadlock at the Suez Canal Stadium after 52 minutes.

Abdallah El Said then doubled the lead for Zamalek on 73 minutes and despite a Glody Lilepo effort just three minutes later, Amakhosi weren't able to find the all-imoprtant equaliser that would have seen them progress to the knckout rounds.

The result, coupled with Al Masry's 2-0 defeat of ZECSO United saw Amakhosi eliminated on goal-difference as they dropped to third place on 10 points, behind Al Masry, and Zamalek in first on 11 points.

Reflecting on the encounter, Kaze said the mentality of the player's wasn't good enough.

He said on IOL after the match: "First of all, I would like to say that it is a huge disappointment for us – we put a lot of time and effort into this competition.

"We tried not to concede those two goals."

Kaze added: "We believe that today we didn't enter the game with the right attitude and mentality.

"We respected the opponent too much, giving them time and space to play, especially in the first half.

"We were behind the ball a lot, and that took a toll physically on the players. The first goal we conceded came from a loose ball, and the second was avoidable. We'll learn from this and move on."
