Thomas Frank hints at Pape Matar Sarr recall as Tottenham target Everton

Spurs have struggled for form in recent weeks, winning just once in their last five matches in all competitions. Their only victory came away to Leeds United before the international break, followed by a 2-1 Premier League defeat at home to Aston Villa and a goalless draw against AS Monaco in midweek.

The north Londoners, who have taken only five points from their last four league outings, are under pressure to rediscover their rhythm and stay within touching distance of the top four.

Frank admitted he was disappointed with the team's performance against Monaco, saying the result "flattered" the visitors and confirming that changes are expected for the Merseyside trip.

One player hoping to benefit is Sarr, who started the season strongly but has found himself on the bench in recent weeks. The 23-year-old featured for the full 90 minutes in three of Tottenham's first four league games but has since been limited to cameo appearances.

When asked about Sarr's situation, Frank made it clear there were no injury issues holding the midfielder back. "Yes, there's nothing wrong with him," he said. "It's just competition and other players have done well. In general, I'm happy with Pape, he was one of the players that impressed me most at the start of the season."

With Everton showing strong home form at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, combining physical play with quick transitions, Frank is expected to turn to players with energy and power in midfield. Sarr's athleticism and ball-winning ability could be key to containing David Moyes' side.

Lucas Bergvall, who has struggled to make an impact in recent matches, could make way for the Senegal international. If recalled, Sarr will be eager to justify his manager's trust and help Tottenham reignite their campaign with a much-needed victory on Merseyside.
