Thomas Frank warns Tottenham of Turf Moor battle against Burnley

Spurs travel north for their latest Premier League fixture looking to build on a strong opening-day win over Burnley earlier in the season, but Frank made it clear this would be a very different challenge. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Tottenham head coach pointed to Burnley's competitiveness and recent performances as a clear warning sign.

"I think it's many of the same trends," Frank said. "They still have some clear patterns in how they want to build. They're very solid, working very hard for each other and very difficult to break down. In general, they look like a threat, especially when they play at home."

Burnley underlined that threat last week at Anfield, where they came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw. The Clarets absorbed heavy pressure before hitting back, with former Tottenham academy graduate Marcus Edwards scoring the equaliser. Despite that result, Burnley remained in the bottom three heading into the weekend.

Tottenham, by contrast, enjoyed a convincing victory when the sides met on the opening day of the campaign in north London, with Richarlison scoring a spectacular volley. Frank, however, played down the relevance of that result.

"Scott Parker's team are very competitive," he added. "At Anfield they showed that. It's going to be another extremely tight game."

Frank stressed that Spurs must focus on their own performance, manage Burnley's threats from set pieces and counter-attacks, and be ruthless in front of goal.

"We need to create the opportunities and we need to score goals," he said.
