Under-pressure head coach Allan Freese defiant as Magesi's struggles continue

Under-pressure head coach Allan Freese defiant as Magesi's struggles continue

Freese was brought in as a replacement for John Maduka in February with the club rooted to the foot of the table.

While they remain in last place with just three wins all season and in real danger of a return to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Freese says he has seen an improvement in his players.

Next up is a league clash with an in-form Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday, and recent draws with Stellenbosch, AmaZulu and Chippa, alongside a 3-0 defeat of Marumo Gallants has given the team something to draw from, even if they come into this tie on the back of a disappointing 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune United.

Freese has already faced Chiefs in his short tenure with Magesi, losing 2-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in March.

Speaking ahead of the midweek clash, the coach responded to questions surrounding his future, saying on FARPost: "Well, I don't know, it's up to the management.

"But I think management must also see what is going on in the field. They mustn't look at the coach; they must look at what is going on in the field. When I am telling you we had 13 chances to score [against Sekhukhune].

"I don't think the last game when we played away against Chiefs we did badly, I don't believe so," Freese added.

"It was also a matter of not putting the ball in the back of the net. It was also the same problem. So we will work on it week in, week out, encouraging people to take shots at goals. So we will go back and still encourage the players."
