The 27-year-old Sweden international has become one of Europe's most sought-after forwards after a prolific season in Portugal, where he scored 54 goals in all competitions and played a key role in Sporting's domestic double.
"There is a lot of talk at the moment, most of it is false," Gyokeres wrote on Instagram. "I will speak when the time is right."
Gyokeres' statement comes amid reports of growing friction between the player's camp and Sporting CP's leadership, with sources suggesting he is frustrated over what he perceives as a broken agreement regarding his summer transfer.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas insisted earlier this week that the club has received no formal offers for the striker, despite strong interest from Arsenal and Manchester United. While Gyokeres' release clause stands at 100 million pounds, Varandas has acknowledged a willingness to negotiate - just not at the levels currently being reported.
"We guaranteed that we would not demand the 100m pounds," Varandas said. "We know Viktor's dream is to play for a club competing for the Champions League, and we are using common sense."
However, the Sporting president denied the existence of a previously reported agreement to let Gyokeres leave for 60m euros plus 10m euros in add-ons-terms the player's camp reportedly expected to be honored. Varandas also took direct aim at the striker's agent, accusing him of attempting to manipulate the situation.
"The game his agent is playing is only making the situation worse," he said. "Threats, blackmail, and insults don't work with me."
Gyokeres, who joined Sporting from Coventry City in 2023 for around £20 million, has enjoyed a meteoric rise since his move to Lisbon. He netted 39 goals in 33 league appearances in 2024–25, helping Sporting edge out rivals Benfica on the final day to claim the Primeira Liga title. He added further silverware with a victory over Benfica in the Portuguese Cup final.
His standout performances in Europe included a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League, and he finished the campaign as the Nations League's top scorer with nine goals - edging out Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gyokeres is under contract at Sporting until 2028, but with his form attracting attention from several top European clubs, a move appears increasingly likely - though the terms remain far from settled.
For now, the striker is staying silent - but his next move could shape one of the biggest transfer sagas.
