Vinicius Junior: Real Madrid will bounce back after 'ugly' 2025

The Brazilian winger, who struggled to recapture his best form throughout the year, addressed supporters and teammates on Tuesday, expressing optimism for a stronger 2026 despite ongoing concerns over his performance and a contract set to expire in 18 months.

"This day is more special every year to be able to be with our people. We know that we have to improve, that 2026 has to be better for everyone and especially for Real Madrid," said Vinicius.

"I continue to learn a lot at this club, with these fans and from the people. We know that it has not been a beautiful year for us, that we almost always win almost everything, and we have no doubt that we are going to return because Real Madrid is like that and we know where we are."

The year has been one of turmoil for Madrid, with the club failing to win a single trophy across all competitions.

Domestically, they finished behind Barcelona in every contest, while European hopes were dashed by Arsenal in the Champions League. The Club World Cup also ended in disappointment, with Paris Saint-Germain proving too strong.

Off the pitch, significant changes have added to the sense of instability. Carlo Ancelotti's tenure concluded in June, with Xabi Alonso stepping in as manager.

Alonso's early months have been underwhelming, as he attempts to steady a squad under heavy scrutiny.
