Louis Oosthuizen's team gets African rebrand ahead of LIV Golf's South Africa debut

The team previously competed as Stinger GC, but the rebrand was confirmed earlier this year and comes shortly before LIV Golf stages its first tournament on the African continent.

"Yeah, look, it's a new chapter for us," Oosthuizen said. "Felt like we have our own identity now. We've built such a nice brand with Stinger GC, but this is the way forward for us, get the South African spirit in there, get the rhino in there, and we're very excited about what we can do going forward."

The squad's lineup remains unchanged, consisting of Oosthuizen, and fellow South Africans Dean Burmester, Charl Schwartzel, and Branden Grace. All four players have recorded individual wins in LIV Golf events, with Burmester, Schwartzel, and Grace among those to have won titles.

The team's new branding includes a rhino as its central symbol, a choice Oosthuizen revealed was linked to Burmester's conservation initiative.

"I think rhinos are pretty close to everyone's heart in South Africa and then we have Dean's (Burmester) charity, which is Birdies for Rhinos," he said. "We just think it's a really good symbol for our team."

The rebrand coincides with LIV Golf's expansion into South Africa, with the Steyn City event marking the first tournament held in the country.

"South Africa was obviously a massive thing for us to get the tournament," Oosthuizen said. "We had some great help from LIV and from other sportsmen to get it in the country, and I can tell you the fans are ready for it. Everyone is very excited."

The team enters the 2026 season after finishing third in the 2025 LIV Golf Team Championship. Oosthuizen has yet to win an individual LIV Golf title, while his teammates have each recorded victories on the circuit.

The Steyn City course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, will host the four-day, 72-hole tournament.
