Neal Shipley eyes maiden PGA Tour title at Biltmore Championship Asheville

The American carded a seven-under 65 around a benign The Cliffs at Walnut Grove, enough to move him to 21 for the tournament, one stroke ahead of Ben Kohles.

Shipley had a fast finish, going four under in the last six thanks to an eagle on the par-five 15th and two birdies.

"Just going to keep doing what I'm doing," Shipley told AP.

"Keep being me and keep having fun out there. Keep that mindset of going out there, chasing birdies and trying to get it as low as possible tomorrow."

There's are alot on the line for the 25-year-old. A victory would hand Shipley a two-year exemption and secure him for the more lucrative Championship Series in 2028.

"It would be huge," said Shipley.

"It would take a lot of stress off my back, that's for sure. It's one of those things I'm playing really well and I know it's a matter of time for me, so I'm going to give it my best shot tomorrow and lay it all out there and see what happens."

Meanwhile, Kohles matched Shipley with a 65 as he birdied three of the last four holes. Chasers Eric Cole and Ricky Castillo are three shots behind Kohles.

"Happy with the day," Kohles said.

"Played solid. Took advantage of par fives, which like I said yesterday, is something you got to do out here on this course."

Further down the leaderboard, Li Haoton carded the round of the day with a sizzling 61 that contained ten birdies to put him on 15 under.
