South Africa's Garrick Higgo fires 65 to grab share of Sanderson Farms lead in Mississippi

Higgo, who is targeting a second PGA Tour victory this season, ended the day level with Americans Eric Cole, Sam Ryder and Danny Walker in Jackson, Mississippi, the quartet sitting two shots ahead of eight players on 67.

Starting his round on the 10th at the Country Club of Jackson, Higgo surged out with five birdies in his first seven holes before dropping a shot at the 18th. He collected three more birdies on the front nine to move into the tie at the top.

Cole and Ryder had set the early pace. Cole racked up a career-best 10 birdies but mixed in a bogey and a double, relying heavily on his putter after struggling from the tee. Ryder, meanwhile, was flawless with seven birdies and no bogeys, also crediting his putter after hitting only seven fairways and 12 greens in regulation.

The Sanderson Farms event is part of the US Tour's Fall Series, with players aiming to lock in status for 2026

Higgo, 88th on the points list, is comfortably inside the top 100 who will retain full playing rights, though his form has dipped since winning the Corales Puntacana in April amid hip and wrist injuries.

"I'm pretty happy that I feel like I've got my momentum back," he said. "I had a lot of momentum, obviously, from Puntacana.

"I feel pretty confident, but I'm trying to play the long game, as well, trying to get ready for next year and have a good next year and play some elevated stuff."
