Thomas Frank confirms Dominic Solanke training but 'not ready' for Tottenham return

Solanke has been sidelined for much of the 2025/26 season with a foot injury, making only three brief appearances so far.

"Today you could see in training he's nice and composed on the ball. In the small-sided game, he looked a bit more rusty, which is understandable after six months out. So when he's back in the hopefully near future, it will take time.

"Very few players come straight back in after six months out and hit the ground running," Frank said ahead of Tottenham's Premier League clash at Bournemouth on Wednesday.

Spurs' struggles to score goals have been compounded by Solanke's absence. The club has already faced a spate of injuries this season, leaving Frank with a depleted squad.

Loan signing Randal Kolo Muani has impressed, but much of his praise comes from comparison to teammates like Richarlison, whose performances have fallen short.

Solanke, signed from Bournemouth for a club-record 65 million pounds in 2024, offers the all-around game Spurs have been missing. His performances in 2024/25 were vital in Tottenham winning the Europa League, and the club clearly hopes he can return to that level.

The striker is already moving and training with the ball, but he remains "rusty" and may still be several weeks away from full match fitness. Current projections suggest he may not reach peak form until the spring, leaving Tottenham to navigate the rest of the season without one of their key forwards.
