AIK Fotboll welcomes Jose Riveiro and Sergio Almenara, betting on Orlando Pirates' winning formula

Riveiro, who helped revive the Buccaneers and led them to five trophies, including the MTN8 and Nedbank Cups, briefly took his expertise to Egypt with Al Ahly, but that stint was short-lived.

Joining him on the bench is Sergio Almenara, who was instrumental in Pirates' domestic successes, particularly in winning the MTN8 crown and two Nedbank Cups.

Almenara has been confirmed as Riveiro's assistant, and the duo is tasked with bringing the same winning mentality to AIK Fotboll.

"We are very pleased to welcome Sergio as part of AIK's coaching staff. His competence and personality are an excellent addition to the current staff," said Miika Takkula, AIK's Head of Recruitment.

"Sergio's specialized skills in individual player development and set-piece situations will add significant added value to our operations."

Riveiro's contract is set to run until 2028, giving him a long-term mandate to shape the team both domestically and in European competitions. His track record with Pirates, where he earned the nickname "Cup King" for his trophy haul, is expected to translate into success with the Swedish side.

Almenara expressed excitement about the new challenge: "A historic club, passionate supporters, and an exciting challenge ahead. I'm grateful for the trust and ready to give everything from day one."

With their shared experience at Orlando Pirates, Riveiro and Almenara aim to instill a winning culture at AIK Fotboll, guiding the team to make an impact at home and abroad.

The Swedish giants are betting on the duo's expertise to return the club to the heights of domestic and European football.
