Andre Onana set on Man Utd future despite Monaco interest

Sources have revealed to ESPN that the Cameroon international is intent on staying with the club despite interest from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. The French outfit recently reached out to Onana's camp to explore a potential move - a clear signal of their ambitions to strengthen in goal. They had also flirted with the idea of signing David De Gea, before the former United keeper extended his stay at Fiorentina.

But for Onana, the focus remains on redeeming himself in Manchester. Following a rocky debut season after his high-profile move from Ajax in 2023, the 28-year-old has faced his fair share of criticism, particularly for a string of high-profile errors. Even so, he's not looking for an exit - unless new head coach Ruben Amorim signals that he's no longer in the club's long-term plans.

Onana is set to return to Carrington for pre-season next month and, as things stand, fully intends to see out the project he began under former boss Erik ten Hag. His current contract runs until 2028.

Still, the transfer rumour mill continues to spin. United are keeping tabs on potential goalkeeping reinforcements, including World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez. Sources suggest Martínez would be open to a switch to Old Trafford, especially with Aston Villa under pressure to offload assets in light of the Premier League's strict financial regulations. However, no formal approach has been made.

For now, the message from Onana is resolute: he's staying put - unless the club tells him otherwise.
