Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons admits worries ahead of Australia Test series

The tourists eventually fell to an innings-and-38-run defeat to a Cricket Australia XI in Darwin on Saturday, which would ring alarm bells ahead of two Test matches against Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and company.

Rookie left-arm quick Campbell Thompson destroyed Bangladesh in their second innings with an eight-wicket haul as they lasted just 17 overs, after the visitors started the final day on 19-2.

Bangladesh's top-order did not score much in the first innings either, as they slipped to 110-6 before a century from Mehidy Hasan Miraz (109) - bating at number 7 - saw them to a total of 263.

Simmons and his charges now have four days before their first Test match on Australian soil in 23 years to work on things.

"I think the three days that we have had and working on things, I think they have been very good. I think we let ourselves down with the bat in this practice match, and you look at how we got out and it wasn't nice," Simmons said after the game.

"But I think that we have three days to work on what we have to do properly in the Test match, and I trust that the guys are going to put in the work over these next three days to get us where we want to be for that Test match.

"(It was a) disappointing match, but we move on and we look forward to the Test match."

The positives from the contest for Bangladesh came in the bowling department where seamer Hasan Mahmud took 4-42 as the CA XI were 355 all out on the second day.
