Barcelona push forward on Ferran Torres deal as attack reshuffle continues

Torres, 26, is currently under contract until 2027, and until recently the Catalan club had shown no urgency to open discussions over an extension. However, reports in Spain suggest that stance has now changed, with Barcelona ready to begin formal negotiations earlier than planned.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the club had initially intended to wait until September or October before addressing the forward's future. That timeline has now been brought forward, with early talks expected to set the groundwork for a new deal.

Barcelona are understood to be considering an extension of three or four additional seasons. An agreement is viewed internally as realistic, with Torres consistently expressing his desire to remain at the club and continue his development in Spain.

The move comes as Barcelona continue to reshape their attacking options ahead of next season under Hansi Flick. The new head coach has made it clear the squad required freshening up in forward areas following the end of the campaign.

There has already been major change in the frontline. Robert Lewandowski has departed, and the club are actively searching for a new central striker. One of their primary targets is Julian Alvarez, although negotiations are expected to be complex.

Further movement is also expected on the wings. Barcelona have already brought in Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, but the future of Marcus Rashford remains uncertain, with reports suggesting the club are not prepared to activate his purchase option.
