Currie Cup: Lions and Bulls complete comprehensive victories against coastal rivals

Lions run away from WP in second half

The Lions made it two wins from two in this season's Currie Cup after a comprehensive 40-19 victory against Western Province at Ellis Park.

It was the visitors from the Cape that scored first when Louw Nel went over for a try within the first five minutes of the game.

The home side however hit back with Lubabalo Dobela going over for a five-pointer before the Lions were awarded a penalty try that stretched their advantage even further.

Winger Rabz Maxwane darted over for the Lions' third try before WP hit back with five-pointer by loose forward Gideon van Wyk.

The home side ran away with the encounter in the second half and added another three tries, Jaco Visagoe scoring a brace, to to seal a dominant victory.

Bulls maul Sharks at Loftus

The Bulls were utterly dominant as they outplayed the Sharks 64-0 at Loftus.

The home side started their dominance early as Juann Else went over for a try in the third minute and Boeta Chamberlain nailing the conversion to add the extras.

Dylan Smith then barged over for his team's second try and Chamberlain again made no mistake with the boot.

Chris Smit then added his name scoresheet with a brace of tries while Else also went over for his second as the Bulls went into the halftime break with a 35-0 advantage.

The hosts continued to dominate after the interval when Jeandre Rudolph went on in the corner to continue the try-fest at Loftus.
