Ex-Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm unveiled as Cape Town City flex muscles

The 33-year-old joins the Mother City outfit as a free agent after parting ways with Sekhukhune United, where his stay lasted just five months.

Timm arrived at Babina Noko carrying significant pedigree following three impressive seasons at the Buccaneers, but struggled to cement a regular starting role in Limpopo, managing 14 appearances across all competitions.

With both parties agreeing to an early contract termination, Timm quickly found a new home as Cape Town City moved decisively to secure his services, officially announcing the deal on Monday.

Speaking during his unveiling, the experienced midfielder made it clear he still has plenty to offer at the top level and is eager to play his part as the Citizens push for a return to the elite tier of South African football.

"I understand what this badge means to the fans," Timm told the club's media.

"I know the supporters appreciate players who fight for the club. I promise that whenever I wear this shirt, I will give everything and leave everything I have on the pitch."

Timm's arrival continues a busy period of recruitment for the club, becoming their second major signing in the space of 48 hours. On Sunday, City confirmed the signing of Bosnian-Belgian striker Dzenan Zajmovic.

The 31-year-old forward returns to South Africa after a brief spell in Iran with Zob Ahan, having previously impressed with TS Galaxy, where he scored 12 goals during the 2024/25 season.

Cape Town City currently sit fourth on the Motsepe Foundation Championship log after 14 matches, just five points behind leaders Milford FC. With the league finely poised, the club is clearly leaning on experience and proven quality to mount a serious promotion challenge.

Following the AFCON break, City resume action with an away trip to Gomora United in Limpopo, where both Timm and Zajmovic could be in line for their competitive debuts.
