Fabian Hurzeler delighted after Brighton edge Forest

The win gave Brighton back‑to‑back league victories for the first time since November and moved them into mid‑table safety.

Diego Gomez put Brighton ahead in the sixth minute, but Forest responded quickly through Morgan Gibbs‑White's long-range strike. Danny Welbeck then restored the lead for Brighton, scoring his 10th league goal of the season, which proved decisive.

Hurzeler said: "We wanted to create two things. We wanted to create, from the start, an energy in the stadium that everyone will follow us, that the supporters follow us. I think especially in the end of the game, they had great support for us. It was just impressive.

"They helped us get over the finish line, so it was massive, their support."

The Brighton boss also highlighted his team's defensive efforts. He said: "The second thing we wanted to create was a desire to defend and I think we showed it, especially in the second half, where we suffered a little bit.

"We blocked a lot of shots, we defended the box quite well, and overall I was pleased by doing these two things."

On his team's attacking display, Hurzeler added: "In the first half, I think we played really good football. We created a lot of chances. We scored some nice goals. I think we could be more efficient and more ruthless in front of goal, but overall, I was pleased, and I think it was a deserved win."

The victory lifted Brighton to 11th place with 37 points after 28 games, giving them a comfortable 10‑point cushion above the relegation zone. Forest remain 17th with 27 points, just two above the drop zone, and are still seeking their first league win under new manager Vitor Pereira.

Next Premier League fixtures see Brighton host Arsenal on Wednesday, while Nottingham Forest travel to face Manchester City on the same day.
