Junior Springboks storm to U20 Rugby Championship title with dominant win over Australia

Kevin Foote's side sealed the title in style, scoring eight tries in a bonus-point win that became decisive after Argentina's upset over New Zealand earlier in the day confirmed South Africa's unassailable lead.

The result means next weekend's clash with the Junior All Blacks is now a dead rubber, with South Africa on 10 points from two wins.

Australia started brightly but were undone by repeated indiscipline. Jack Benade opened the scoring after 14 minutes, finishing a slick move for his fourth try of the tournament, with Yaqeen Ahmed converting.

The match shifted when Leo Jaques was yellow-carded for head contact, and the Junior Boks immediately struck through Wasi Vyambwera after a break from Khutadzo Rasivhaga.

Further discipline issues followed, with Isaac Fomua sin-binned as a collapsed maul led to a penalty try, before Taione Taka's deliberate knockdown brought a second penalty try and another yellow card, leaving Australia briefly down to 13 players.

Despite this, the visitors responded through Riley Whitfield and Finn Mackay, but still trailed 28-12 at halftime.

South Africa pulled away after the break. Ethan Adams powered over for the fifth try before Hendre Schoeman sniped through for another, with Ahmed continuing his perfect kicking display.

Taka briefly responded for Australia, but Luke Cannon was driven over from a maul before Ahmed added a superb solo try to push the score beyond 50.

The Junior Boks closed out a 56-17 win to secure the title in dominant fashion.

Argentina's earlier 25-17 win over New Zealand ensured South Africa could not be caught, confirming the championship before the final round.

For Australia, three yellow cards and sustained ill-discipline again proved costly against a clinical Junior Boks side that now sits top of the regional U20 game.
