Kaizer Chiefs reportedly plotting move for rising ZESCO United star

The Soweto giants are believed to be planning a rebuild as they aim to return to their former dominance in domestic football.

The 22-year-old central midfielder is said to have impressed Amakhosi's technical team during this season's CAF Confederation Cup, particularly when ZESCO faced Chiefs on South African soil. Although he featured in just three matches in the competition, his performances were enough to attract serious interest from the Naturena-based outfit.

According to a Phakaaathi source close to the Zambian club, discussions between the two sides are already underway and progressing positively.

"Talks between Chiefs and Zesco have started and they are progressing well," the source revealed.

It is also understood that the player is eager to make the move to South Africa, viewing it as a crucial step in his career progression.

"The player wants to go to South Africa. What's left now is for the two clubs to agree on the transfer fee," the source added.

The same source highlighted the stature of Chiefs across the continent, suggesting the move would be a major boost for the young midfielder.

"Chiefs are a very big club and everyone knows them here in Zambia. Luka believes a move to them will really enhance his career. He wants to play overseas someday and believes that joining Chiefs will be the perfect step towards achieving that goal."

Chiefs have previously done business with ZESCO, notably signing striker Lazarous Kambole in 2019. Whether they can finalise a deal for Mutoshi remains to be seen, but the interest signals clear intent as the club looks to rebuild for the future.
